1:1 Life-Size Pet Portraits, Hand-Finished with Love
Two ways to get your portrait: we ship it door to door, or your own forwarder collects from the studio. Freight is not included in the $1,888 total.

Back to HomeWhen the portrait is finished, there are two ways to get it to you:
Both work. Tell us which one you want when you confirm the commission, because it changes how freight, insurance and paperwork are handled.
The $1,888 total doesn't include freight, whichever option you choose. Under option one we quote freight before dispatch and you pay us. Under option two you pay your forwarder directly.
If you don't say otherwise, we'll assume option one.
These two words mark different moments in this document, so they're worth keeping apart:
What they share: the piece leaves the studio at that moment, and the risk of transit passes to you from that point.
Where they differ: under option one the piece goes straight into the carrier network and arrives at your door. Under option two it only reaches your forwarder's hands — booking, customs clearance, main carriage and final delivery are then arranged by you and your forwarder.
Neither shipping nor handover means "arrived at your door." Delivery is completed by the carrier, or by your forwarder.
How we send it:
We confirm which one with you before dispatch, based on your destination, how quickly you need it, and the freight quote.
How freight is calculated:
Freight is not included in the $1,888 total. The process:
Cost depends on destination, dimensional weight, and the service chosen. The portrait is a life-size piece, so its dimensional weight is usually higher than its actual weight — carriers charge on whichever is greater.
The freight quote includes shipping insurance. We don't charge a separate packing fee.
Transit times, for reference only:
These don't include production. Making the piece takes 4–6 weeks, and we'll give you the full timeline when you confirm the commission.
Customs clearance is outside our control and the carrier's. If your local customs office asks for extra documents, we'll help supply them, but time lost there isn't counted in the estimates above.
If the freight quote is more than you expected:
The piece stays in the studio and won't be resold or disposed of. If nothing is arranged after 6 months, we'll contact you once more, and after that the commission is treated as falling under the "production started" tier in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
If you already work with a forwarder in China, or prefer your own logistics, choose this option.

What we hand over with the piece:
Risk passes to you when your forwarder signs the handover note. From that point, transit risk is yours.
Freight and insurance: settled directly between you and your forwarder. We don't advance freight and we don't insure that leg. The transport contract is between you and your forwarder — we're not a party to it.
If you'd like a forwarder recommendation, we can pass on a few companies we've worked with, but quotes and contracts are between you and them.
If your forwarder isn't in Huizhou and asks us to deliver to a domestic warehouse elsewhere — Shenzhen or Guangzhou, for example — we can arrange that leg. The cost is yours, quoted and confirmed before we move the piece.
Whichever option you choose, the standard is the same: every piece is packed properly for international transit.
Our benchmark is simple — under normal handling, stacking and repeated transfers, the piece shouldn't shift, shouldn't be compressed, and no protruding part should take load.
We check everything before the packaging is sealed and photograph it. Those photos matter if a claim is ever needed.
If you have specific requirements — a pallet, extra bracing, particular markings — tell us in advance. Anything beyond the standard packing is quoted separately.
Option one (we ship): shipping insurance is included in the freight quote. We arrange it on your behalf and the premium is already in the freight, not charged separately. Cover limits, deductibles and payout ceilings are set by the insurer. We file the claim; you only need to send us photos and the signed delivery record.
Option two (your forwarder collects): we don't insure this leg. We recommend you arrange transit insurance through your forwarder or directly. This leg isn't covered by our insurance, and uninsured losses are yours.
Either way, we'd suggest insuring it. At $1,888 a piece, a life-size piece crossing borders is not a zero-risk shipment.
This matters. It decides whether a claim can be made at all.
Under option one, inspect on arrival. Under option two, inspect before your forwarder loads the piece — once it leaves the studio and enters their network, claiming it was already damaged at collection becomes very hard to support.
What to do:
Why it has to be at the door: insurers weigh one thing above all else — whether the damage was recorded at the point of delivery. If you've signed for it as undamaged, claiming damage afterwards is very difficult, even where we arranged the insurance ourselves.
Under option two, if your forwarder can't open the packaging on collection, at least inspect the packaging itself, photograph it, and note its condition on the handover note.
Option one (we ship):
Option two (your forwarder collects):
The difference worth remembering: under option one, you deal with us and never with the carrier. Under option two, you deal with your forwarder, and we supply the evidence.
Import duties, VAT and clearance fees in the destination country are yours. They're not included in the price of the piece or in the freight.
Under option one they're usually collected by the carrier on delivery. Under option two your forwarder handles them at clearance.
We declare the contents and value accurately on the waybill and commercial invoice. As a custom-made artwork, some countries ask for proof of value or a description, and we can supply:
If a shipment is returned because the delivery details were wrong, because it was refused, or because clearance wasn't handled in time, the return freight and storage costs are yours, and we don't refund. Please check the delivery address and phone number once more when you confirm freight or collection details.
